Welcome to the website of Voices for an
Open Spirit (VOS), a network of people who want to give
voice to a progressive spirit in the Church of the Brethren,
who want to encourage dialogue, and who believe there
is a place for everyone at God's table.

Progressive Brethren Summit
November 7-9, 2008... Ready for a fresh breath of worship, theological reflection, Biblical interpretation, and life? Tired of feeling like the church is moving backward and you want to move forward? Then this weekend is for you!
- VOS holds deep concern over recent correspondence with
the Program and Arrangements Committee (P&AC) of
the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference. Click

for exhibit booth space made in collaboration with Womaen's
Caucus and BMC.
About VOS:
Voices for an Open Spirit—
- Began with an informal gathering at the Church of
the Brethren Annual Conference in July 2002 and, continued
with another gathering at the National Older Adult Conference
of the Church of the Brethren in September 2002.
- Was given direction and shape at a weekend
gathering at Camp Mack in Milford, Indiana, November
22-24, 2002, that was attended by 116 people of all
ages from all over the country.
- Is guided by a Coordinating
Council of seven to ten people.
- Communicates through a listserve
with (currently) over 370 subscribers.
- Publishes an occasional newsletter, "The
VOS Journal." See also the May
2005 VOS Journal; the June
2006 Journal; and the special July
2006 Journal reporting on the Fall 2005 Gathering
about progressive churches, the April
2007 Journal., and now the AC-2007
Journal.
- Hosted its annual Hospitality Center on the Skywalk
at the Des Moines Annual Conference. See the June
2006 Journal for details.
- Held its Fall 2006 Gathering at Camp Mack, Milford,
IN, November 10-12: "Spiritual Vitality"!
